Attraction

Riverside has many historic sites and buildings that speak of the city’s rich past. The best known of these is the Mission Inn, a national historic landmark. The first section of the inn was opened in 1903. Subsequent additions and improvements were made over time, until the inn sprawled over an entire city block with its extravagant arches and towers. Each wing added to the hotel had a specific theme: The Cloister Wing was built in 1910; The Spanish Wing was built in 1914; and the International Rotunda Wing was completed in 1931. Still a functioning hotel and spa, the inn also features a museum dedicated to its history.

Other buildings to see are: the Riverside County Courthouse, Unitarian-Universalist Church, Magnolia United Presbyterian Church, First Congregational Church and Heritage House. All are representative of Riverside’s early days as a city, as well as gorgeous examples of period architecture. Heritage House, an elegant Victorian home built in 1872, is the oldest of the five.

Family fun in Riverside can be found at Castle Park, an amusement park featuring miniature golf, arcade games and rides. Castle Park was voted the Favorite Family Attraction in the Inland Empire. Other entertainment venues include movies theaters and bowling allies.
